I grew up in Western Europe being scared of the commies across the border. My father was in the military and mom stayed home to make my life hellish. What she couldn't frighten me about my two older brothers did. We traveled the world as a family and happily missed the 1970's in America; disco, pet rocks et al.
We moved to Memphis the same week Elvis moved out to his side yard. As a frustrated musician and loser in general I got into radio in high school and assumed a new identity. The promise of sex, drugs and rock became the reality of working Thanksgiving , Christmas Eve and numerous other "dues paying" activities.
I thought I had done everything there was to do in radio until I met someone that had...Drake Hall. I remember listening to him as a child in Fort Knox, Kentucky and one day he showed up at the station to be the new afternoon guy. My show followed his and soon we were chatting on the air together every day. It worked and soon we were embarking a partnership that has lasted over 20 years now! Let's face facts, radio in general sucks. I hope Drake and I have helped it suck a little less.
I love family (mine, not yours), puppies, kitties, orchids, saltwater fish, gardening and golf.
I'll take a drink on occasion and am learning to tolerate others in small doses.
